McLothlorien

This was a strategy games company, basically it produced war games, which were very simplisticly programmed, but had a great play length. They were generally well thought out, and had a good range of options. They did one text adventure, but that was about it. I know nothing of what happened to them, anyone know?

This is a more futuristic game, with you in command of Tanks and artillery guns, you play against the computer, trying to defeat his army, whilst defending against his attacks. It is quite a boring game, because the information is badly presented in the low-resolution modes, when really one of the high-res black and white modes would have been better. This is only one to play if you really love war games.

Interesting game in which you have to make armies and capture cities - it is quite like most of their other war games really. I think this one is more freeform where you have to design the scenarios yourself.

This game is a nicely set out one, this time themed in the American civil war, with one side playing the confederates, and the other side the opposition. To win you have to capture the opponents flag 3 times. This is one of their better games, however the computer does take a long time to think out its move. It is again presented in the blocky low-res modes, and this ditracts somewhat from the game.

In this one you have to guide a team of 16 paratroopers around enemy territory. Again it is not just a pick up and play game, you have to learn what you can and cannot do, so if you like action games this is not for you. The graphics are quite good, if a little crude, but the whole thing works quite well.

Redcoats

American Civil War game, this is pretty standard and similar to their other games, it's not too bad, but as always this could actually be an add-on pack for another game, rather than a complete game in its own right.

Roman Empire

This is a great game, basically it puts you in charge of the Roman army, and your task is to conquer Europe, it is brilliant, but difficult to win. You have to keep some people behind, otherwise Rome is invaded by Savages, but if you don't put enough to war in each country, your armies will die!

Roundheads

Set in the American Civil war, this seems to be centred around smaller scale battles than some of the other games. Its quite a lot more basic as well, but again if you like these games you'll probably like this one as well.

Yet another war simulation, this time you play The Earl Of Wellington, defending Portugal from the maurading French Army. The graphics are, as usual, spartan and in low-res mode and the game play is hardly explosive stuff. Still if you like strategy games, and ones that arent too complicated, then this is for you.

Special Operations

This is set in around WWII and you have to lead a team of special forces to achieve certain mission goals, such as to photograph the enemy area. It is one of their more enjoyable games, certainly for people who don't usually play the strategy genre much. The missions are very varied and good fun, you have to choose who to take on the mission, and this can affect the ease at which you acomplish the mission.

Stolen Lamp

This game is an appaling example of a text adventure game. The rooms all have only one line descriptions, and all you can do is move around the rooms, and pick up different items. Hardly one to keep you glued to your seat for hours on end. The only puzzles seem to be very simple, and you could easily complete this in about 2 hours.

Tobruk

A simulation of an Indian battle. It looks just like all the other Lothlorien war games, and plays just the same as well....some might think that the only thing that changes in these games is the storyline and the scenery!!!

Waterloo

This is a simulation of the battle of Waterloo, with you playing as Napolean Bonaparte. You have to defeat the army of Wellington, whilst carefully keeping an eye on the approach of Blucher. This is a complexed war game, and is quite enjoyable, but it does take a long time to play through, and is very difficult to beat! It is the sort of game that you won't come back to for a while if you are beaten.

World War I

Battle game, although hideously over complicated. There are so many rules and parts to this game it is quite unbelievable that the game fits into the small amount of memory of trhe Beeb. You can play this with one or two players, battling to win the First World War.
